WILLMAR, Minn. — Members of Indivisible Kandiyohi County stood outside the Kandiyohi County Jail in Willmar as a show of support Tuesday for a Minnesota woman who has been behind bars since her arrest by federal agents more than two weeks ago. She is expected to be released Wednesday after a judge ruled in her favor.
Antonia Aguilar Maldonado, 25, of Lake Elmo, was arrested July 17 by Homeland Security Investigations, a division of the Department of Homeland Security, as she was on her way to work as a self-employed painter, according to reporting by MPR News.
Aguilar Maldonado has no criminal history and an active asylum case in the immigration court system, her attorneys told MPR.
