A familiar formula was at work on Camden Yards in this one. The Orioles bats were nonexistent, and they wasted a surprisingly good pitcher performance. On this night, it was Dean Kremer that stepped up and put forth one of his best outings of the season. But it wouldn’t be enough as the O’s would drop the series opener 1-0 to the visiting M’s.

Let’s start with the positive (singular) from this game. Dean Kremer was terrific. Outside of a first inning that saw him allow the lone run of the night, he dominated the Seattle offense.

Over his eight innings, Kremer allowed just the one run on five hits, a walk, and six strikeouts. He did not allow a runner beyond first base in his final seven frames, with some help from two double plays. And once again, his splitter was nasty, getting a 53% wh
