The Indiana Fever couldn't take advantage of a friendly schedule, falling 81-80 to the 12th-place Dallas Wings on Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Kelsey Mitchell had a shot at the buzzer to win, but couldn't get it anywhere near the rim as the Fever rallied all the way back from down 17 points to give itself a shot, but to no avail.

The Fever (18-15) overcame a sloppy start and trailed by as many as 14 points in the first half before they rallied to tie the score by halftime. But the Wings used a 19-0 run in the third quarter to build another double-digit cushion. And then Indiana rallied again, getting to within one point with 33 seconds left on a Mitchell layup.

Caitlin Clark missed her 11th straight game with a right groin injury. Dallas guard Arike Ogunbowale also miss
