ANAHEIM — Tony Gonsolin’s return from Tommy John surgery lasted just seven starts before he needed a second elbow surgery.
Gonsolin underwent a procedure on Tuesday that Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman described as a Tommy John “revision with internal brace and some flexor cleanup.”
Recovery time is expected to be eight to 10 months, according to Friedman, which puts Gonsolin’s return somewhere in the middle of the 2026 season.
The 31-year-old Gonsolin went 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA in 2022, but he had Tommy John surgery late in the 2023 season and missed all of 2024 while recovering. He injured his back during spring training and didn’t make his return until April 30.
