SALT LAKE CITY — An irrigation line broke Tuesday, closing a road that leads directly to Capitol Hill.
On X, the Utah Department of Transportation said road damage is impacting both directions of State Street at 300 North.
UDOT’s Director of Public Relations, John Gleason, confirmed that the damage was caused by a broken irrigation line underneath the road.
“There were two depressions,” Gleason said, “where the road is kind of sunk in due to that irrigation line that’s broken underneath the road.”
Gleason said the closure could last through Friday.
“We’re going to put in a hard closure to all traffic from the roundabout to about 2nd North, and then a local-only closure from North Temple to 2nd North.
