Child hospitalized after being bit by family dog in Windsor Locks

A 1-year-old child was hospitalized after they were attacked by a family dog on Tuesday in Windsor Locks, police said.

Officer responded to a residence on Dexter Road around 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday for a report of a dog attack, according to the Windsor Locks Police Department .

Officers learned that the mother, father and their 1-year-old child were all present at the home when the mother noticed some discoloration on a foot of a family dog, a 4-year-old pit bull and boxer mix. As the mother touched the paw to investigate it, the dog allegedly attacked the 1-year-old, biting the child in the head area causing lacerations and bleeding, police said.
