FARGO — Kurtis Byrne's base-hit to right field in the top of the 10th inning drove home Maikol Escotto for the go-ahead run as Sioux City beat Fargo-Moorhead 7-6 Tuesday night in American Association baseball.
Starting at second base to open the bottom of the 10th, Michael Hallquist got caught in a rundown on a chopper to third for the RedHawks first out. After Lamar Sparks flew out, Nicholas Northcut singled to put Juan Fernandez in scoring position but Sioux City reliever Felix Cepeda struck out Aidan Byrne looking on a 2-2 count.
Fargo-Moorhead erased a 6-1 deficit in the bottom of the fifth inning, tying the game on Hunter Clanin's sacrifice fly to right that brought home Sparks. In his at-bat, Sparks singled with the bases loaded to drive in two runs.
