EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) - The City of East Lansing will continue as a sanctuary city despite possible consequences from the Trump administration.
The United States Department of Justice identified East Lansing as one of 18 sanctuary cities that that it claims are obstructing the enforcement of immigration laws.
At the end of April, the Trump administration released an executive order threatening to take away federal funding from sanctuary cities. The administration said it will take action if sanctuary policies are not changed. East Lansing City Council Member, Mark Meadows said the city is changing nothing.
"We don't plan on changing any of our policies with regard to this," said Meadows.
