EVERETT, Wash. — One person was killed and two others were injured when a car crashed off the road and sparked a brush fire on Tuesday evening.

The fatal crash happened on the 41st street exit of northbound Interstate 5 around 7:40 p.m., according to the Everett Fire Department (EFD).

One man died at the scene. Two other people, a woman and a child, were transported to the hospital; officials did not have information on their injuries.

When the car crashed off the ramp, it reportedly rolled multiple times and into a railing, the EFD said. The engine separated from the car during the crash and landed in a nearby field. It started a brush fire that has since been extinguished.
