On Monday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller came out strongly against President Donald Trump's announcement he was taking over law enforcement in Washington and calling in 800 National Guard troops.
At first glance there is a bit of irony in this — Lujan Grisham called up a much smaller contingent of the New Mexico National Guard earlier this year to help Albuquerque police deal with crime in the city. However, in their joint statement the governor and Keller said their approach could not be more different.
