A woman has died after a falling tree branch hit her while walking with a child through a UK park.

The individual, who has not yet been named, is believed to have been in her 30s when the tragedy occurred at Witton Country Park in Blackburn, Lancashire just after 8.30pm on Monday, August 11.

Emergency services rushed to the area near the Buncer Lane entrance, where the woman was found unresponsive, but sadly she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child with her was not injured during the incident.

Multiple family members of the deceased person arrived at the park following the news of the tragedy, with the area cordoned off.
