Despite his administration's talk about shrinking the size and cost of government, President Donald Trump has been careful to exclude entitlements like Social Security from consideration for serious reform. That makes it essentially impossible to fix federal finances given the massive chunk of expenditures represented by these programs, but it's understandable from a political perspective. The fact is that most Americans like Social Security, though they don't understand how it works or why it's headed for a fiscal cliff.
