The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is doubling down on its messaging that people need to quit stopping on the side of the highway to take pictures and videos of the emergency response near Paddy’s Pond.

RNC Constable James Cadigan says emergency responders have encountered people stopping on the side of the TCH and Peacekeeper’s way, as well as accessing Fowler’s Road.

Cadigan says that type of activity needs to come to a “full stop” and people should avoid those areas.

In cases where people are parked along the highway, Cadigan says the RNC will be intervening.

Meanwhile, Cadigan says they have responded to reports of potentially illegal fires over the last few days.

While same have involved the use of propane, which is allowed, he says there have been unattended fires.
