The Junction Pipeline Company doesn't just want to build a 30-inch diameter, roughly 30-mile long oil pipeline from Toole County to Canada — they want to do it "rapidly," completing what’s considered phase one of the pipeline in the next three to four years.
In a phone interview, leaders of company told the Gazette they want to “move forward as aggressively as we can” with the potential $5 billion project. The pipeline would import crude from controversial oil sands to refineries in the Rockies region.
The small Texas-based company has never built a pipeline before, but they're not considering that an issue in constructing it. Employees are currently in talks with large-scale developers to begin construction. What might be an issue is a change in government.
