An Idaho resident got a surprise visit from an apex predator who appeared eager to come inside his home and say hello.

David, from Coeur d'Alene, was as shocked as anyone when he realized his Ring doorbell camera had picked up a surprise visit from a cougar in the dead of night.

"The sighting was completely unexpected—it's the first time I've ever heard of a cougar in our area," David told Ring.

At the start of the doorbell camera footage, which Ring shared with Newsweek , a pair of eyes can be seen emerging from the darkness before the cougar comes into view.
