BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) - Nearly 39,000 students in Berkeley County are back in the classroom.
The Berkeley County School District is the second-largest school district in the Lowcountry, and the fourth-largest in the state. They are also the last local school district to head back to school.
News 2's Octavia Mitchell sat down one-on-one with the district's superintendent, Dr. Anthony Dixon, who talked about security measures, new schools in the works, and program changes.
Dr. Dixon is in his third year as leader of BCSD, a district that continues to grow. "I'm excited about the first day," says Dixon. "We've been averaging in the past 900 to 1000, and lately it's kind of slowed down a little bit, still about 700 to 800, but we are still growing pretty fast in Berkeley County," he
