The Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation kicked off a week of festivities with a parade through the streets of Tofino, followed by a barbecue, singing, dancing and bouncy castles for the kids.
"We're always happy to host our first day here" at the Village Green, Chief Councillor Elmer Frank said. The Tla-o-qui-aht Days parade and celebration at Tofino's Village Green are slowly returning after an enforced break during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Frank and hereditary chiefs from the nation welcomed visitors and members to the celebration.
The parade and festivities at the Village Green were just day one of Tla-o-qui-aht Days, which ran from Aug. 4-8, 2025. There were races and family games on Aug. 5 as well as a dinner and culture night at the Tin Wis Conference Hall, then camping at ookmin from Aug. 6
