WASHINGTON, Ill. – Washington is getting ready for a week-long celebration of two centuries.

Festivities for Washington’s bicentennial begin Thursday with Rove and Ramble On the Square, with activities running through next weekend.

Tazewell County Clerk John Ackerman tells 25 News that he’s hopeful the celebrations will bring out pride in the community.

“The pride of a community that has been here for over 200 years. The richness of life and the quality of life that has become a hallmark of this community,” Ackerman said.

The bicentennial parade will take place Saturday at 10:00 A.M.
