JAMESTOWN — The Jamestown Speedway is full of drivers who have been competing for many years, but there might not be anyone who has done it for as long as John Corell.

The Jamestown native has been racing for the last 47 years.

“(I enjoy) just the adrenaline and then the friends that you meet and make and just have fun. When the car is working like it has been, it’s fun,” Corell said. “It’s a pleasure to drive them, when the car is not working then it gets frustrating, you put all this time and work into them and it can be just really frustrating sometimes. This year with this new car I’m having fun with it. It’s been awesome.”

Over the years, Corell said the sport has changed a tremendous amount.
