MOORHEAD — Moorhead boys hockey assistant coach Tony Kunka kept the team patient on Tuesday night until he gave the go-ahead to the Spuds. It was only fitting a great moment took place in the Cullen Hockey Center Great Room.

The team opened their boxes containing their state championship rings to commemorate Moorhead's first-ever hockey title last winter.

The rings featured the signature Moorhead “M” inside two circles with "Moorhead Hockey" and "State Champions" above and below. On the side it read "Spuds" and on the band read “Worth the wait.”

“It’s unreal,” last season's captain Brooks Cullen said. “They’re so much better in person.”

Cullen and the other team captains helped design the rings.
