The building my office is located in is really old. Not that it hasn’t been completely renovated and overhauled — at this point it’s just like any modern midsize office building, just with certain interior elements that have been preserved or even over-emphasized to say, “Hey, this was a really old building, once!” The elevators are also very modern — shiny steel doors, plush carpet interior, digital display, and so on. But for some reason, the elevators tend to break a fair bit, as though they were as old as the building (though I don’t think modern elevators had been invented by the time the building was built). It’s a minor rite of passage among my coworkers to get stuck in the elevator.
I don’t actually ever ride the elevator, though. (I also have mostly stopped going into the office
