A man suspected in the fatal stabbing of a Washington state woman in an attack that also left a man injured was arrested Tuesday in the Westlake district following the earlier discovery of his car in Calabasas.

Police in Longview, Washington, said Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, was arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department.

At an afternoon news conference, LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell said officers from the department’s Olympic Division received a call around 12:45 p.m. Tuesday from an unidentified security officer who claimed to have spotted Rogers near Lafayette Park in the Westlake district.

“Rogers was positively identified at the scene and was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held at Olympic Station,” McDonnell said.
