(NewsNation) — A handyman suspected of killing a woman in Washington state was arrested in the Los Angeles area Monday after a nearly weeklong manhunt, according to officials.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested Alexander Lee Rogers, 51, after his car was found in the city, NewsNation affiliate KOIN reported.

Rogers is accused of fatally stabbing Dawn Peters, 64, and injuring her brother-in-law, 73-year-old Andrew Peters, on Aug. 5 inside their Longview, Washington, home.

Police credited a chance traffic stop for the fast identification of Rogers, who was captured on body camera footage the same day as the stabbings, before the violence.

By cross-checking Ring camera footage from the scene of the crime, police identified Rogers as the suspect, and the search began.
