The mother of the former WNBA star was one of two people killed in a double fatal crash in rural Stephenson County on Saturday.
61-year-old Darcy Connolly-Brunner was struck when Rolando Ico-Choc, a 30-year-old Guatemalan national, crossed over into the wrong lane. The migrant was also killed in this accident.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Stephenson County Sheriff Steven Stovall said the preliminary investigation revealed Darcy Brunner was driving a Ford Edge northbound when she was struck head-on by a Nissan Altima driven by Rolando Ico-Choc.
Authorities are awaiting results of toxicology tests, but Stovall clarified that Brunner is not considered to be at fault.
