Two were hospitalized after a four-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 in south Colorado Springs early Wednesday, according to Colorado State Patrol.

The crash happened between South Academy Boulevard and Mesa Ridge Parkway around 5:50 a.m. and shut down the roadway for about an hour, State Patrol said. As of 7:30 a.m., one of the southbound lanes has reopened.

The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. One of the vehicles struck a guardrail, according to State Patrol. Investigators are still determining the cause of the crash.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said on its website the crash has cleared.
