SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - An autopsy for the second of two Lowcountry women found dead in a rural part of the Midlands last week revealed no signs of physical trauma.

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker said Wednesday an autopsy for Kristen Grissom “did not reveal any physical trauma.” Her cause of death is pending a toxicology report.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Baker said an autopsy for the other woman found, Christine McAbee, determined she died of a gunshot wound.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said their deaths are being investigated as a double homicide.

Deputies said McAbee and Grissom’s bodies were found Friday in an area off Richbow Road by a landowner. Baker noted Tuesday in a press conference that it’s believed the bodies were in that area for at least a day.
