Salford gangster Jamie Rothwell is ‘tired’ of living a life of crime and is ‘determined’ to turn his back on it, a judge was told.

Rothwell faces a ‘very long’ jail sentence after he was found to be arranging underworld hits, huge drug deals and the sales of guns from his Spanish bolthole. A man was shot in furtherance of a gangland feud in a plot orchestrated by Rothwell from his apartment in Barcelona.

Police became aware of the plots after messaging within the EncroChat communications platform was hacked by European law enforcement. Rothwell, 38, was found to be operating under the radar with other criminals under the pseudonym ‘live-long’. He was extradited back to the UK to face justice, and has appeared at Manchester Crown Court this week for his sentencing hearing.
