Eight Wyoming newspapers that were forced to shut their doors last week will soon be back in business.

Rob Mortimore, publisher of the eight Wyoming newspapers, announced Tuesday that Robb Hicks had bought the papers from News Media Corporation. Hicks owns the Buffalo Bulletin with his wife, Jen.

On Aug. 6, News Media Corporation announced to its staff that it was shutting down immediately. The news came as a shock to both staff and subscribers. The possibility of subscription refunds and last paychecks was left up in the air.

For Wyoming, this would have meant eight newsrooms in rural communities would be closed. Several of these counties would then have no options for a newspaper of record.
