GIRARD After more than 40 years of serving the city, Girard Police Chief John Norman has announced his retirement.
According to a press release, Chief John Norman is retiring from the Girard Police Department after 41 years of service to the city. His retirement date is September 8.
During his time at the police department, Norman had served as a patrolman, detective and captain before eventually being promoted to chief in 2017.
He was also part of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force in the 1990s and served with the Trumbull County Homicide Task Force.
