USA Network is slowly making a comeback after delivering some of the most celebrated "blue collar" programming of the 2000s and 2010s. The cable network is set to air a television adaptation of John Grisham 's novel The Rainmaker soon as it amps up original series production. The series debuts on Friday, August 15, but early reviews from critics are out, and the consensus is in. The Rainmaker is not compelling TV, debuting with a mere 50% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. This is a far cry from the 1997 film adaptation starring Matt Damon that is rated fresh at 82% on the same site.
