There is widespread sadness in Glenflesk at the news that a young man from the parish drowned in the River Flesk in Killarney.
The accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the man, aged in his 20's, got into difficulty in the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man has been named locally as Padraig O’Rahilly who is from a well-known and respected family in the area.
Padraig (Paudie) too was described a fine young man who played football with Glenflesk GAA club.
Vice-president of the club, Derry Healy, said the tragedy is a shock to the entire community.
"They are a lovely honest family, this is a tragedy for them and the community,” he said
