RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Reno Police Department is releasing new details about a shooting at the GSR casino that killed three people.
When officers with the Reno Police Department arrived at the GSR at around 7:30 a.m. on July 28, they located the suspect, Dakota Hawver, in the casino’s northwest parking lot.
Hawver immediately began opening fire on officers when they arrived, striking a patrol car four times.
Body camera footage shows multiple units exchanging fire with Hawver, who immediately retreated to behind a dump truck to continue firing at officers.
RPD says Hawver was armed with a 9mm Glock handgun.
The officers then returned fire, hitting Hawver multiple times. He was then taken into custody, given first aid, and taken to the hospital.
The incident is being investigated by
