In my considered opinion, President Donald Trump is federalizing the Washington, D.C., police force along with calling up the National Guard, FBI, etc., etc., to reduce crime in the streets of the capital (the rate of which is already going down) to divert attention and news coverage from the Jeffrey Epstein situation (“ Trump’s takeover of Washington law enforcement begins as National Guard troops arrive ,” Aug. 12). If he is so set on locking up criminals, why did he pardon those who were convicted or pleaded guilty to physically assaulting D.C. police personnel and, just recently, adding a person to his staff who was taped calling for the killing of said personnel? What a hypocrite.
