Phelps, N.Y. — A 40-year-old man died Wednesday morning when his tractor trailer crashed on Interstate 90 westbound in Phelps in Seneca County, according to troopers.

Around 7:41 a.m., the tractor trailer drifted off the highway and traveled along the guardrail on the right shoulder before overturning onto its side, according to a news release from the State Police.

The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers have not released his name yet.

His body was transported to Geneva General Hospital.

The trailer, which remained attached throughout the incident, was carrying non-hazardous materials.

State Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.
