This surely makes Bananza a strong contender for Game of the Year at The Game Awards in December. Indeed, we have it running second behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33in our own ranking, and it will surely survive competition from fall releases to claim a nomination. But can it actually win? I don’t think so, and not just because Clair Obcur is so perfectly tailor-made for the tastes of The Game Awards jury. As strange as it may seem, Bananza’s Nintendo lineage is probably a handicap.
