LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore some of the $584 million worth of research grants it stripped from UCLA.

The National Science Foundation grants covered in Tuesday's ruling reportedly make up more than a third of the roughly 800 grants that were frozen by the administration last month.

The administration cited the university's alleged discrimination in admissions and failure to combat antisemitism on campus, according to the Los Angeles Times .

In her ruling, San Francisco-based U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin said the government's suspension of UCLA funds violated her previous ruling that blocked the termination of science research grants.
