A Warren woman was charged Wednesday in connection with a fatal hit-and-run on Interstate 696, police said.

Meghan Hamilton was arraigned through the 37th District Court and was charged with one count of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury or death, which is a 5-year felony, court records show.

The 36-year-old entered a not guilty plea.

Bond was set at $50,000, officials said. A GPS tether and no alcohol/or drug use are further conditions if bond is posted.

Hamilton has no previous convictions, police said.

A probable cause conference is scheduled for Aug. 21. A preliminary exam follows on Aug. 28.
