BUFFALO, N.Y. — One man is dead after a shooting involving Cheektowaga Police in North Buffalo Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cheektowaga Police arrived at the Colvin Manor Apartments on Sanders Road attempting to arrest an individual involved in an assault.
Cheektowaga Police say the man assaulted an employee at an undisclosed hotel in Cheektowaga on Monday. That employee remains unconscious in the hospital.
Four officers arrived on scene Wednesday to make the arrest and were met with resistance.
“This individual attacked our officers with a knife,” Cheektowaga Police Chief Brian Coons said in a briefing Wednesday evening. “Early investigation revealed that one of our officers discharged their firearm. The officers then began lifesaving measures.”
