SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WBTV) - A man died after a forklift accident at a factory in South Carolina this week.

Sister-station reported that 48-year-old Russell Edward Layton Jr. got hurt while working on a forklift at Spartanburg Steel Products on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

Layton was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, and died Tuesday evening.

It was unclear exactly how Layton got hurt.

WHNS asked Spartanburg Steel Products for a statement, but the company reportedly declined as of Tuesday night.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was involved in the investigation.

According to the company’s , Spartanburg Steel Products does a variety of production and manufacturing work in the automotive, heavy truck and agriculture industries.
