Los Angeles police are investigating the brutal assault of a 70-year-old Sikh man in North Hollywood.
ABC7 Los Angeles reports police have arrested a 44-year-old homeless man, who is now being held on $1.115 million bail.
The station reports the victim is Harpal Singh and he remains in critical condition, unable to communicate, with internal bleeding to the brain.
According to the Sikh Coalition, he was attacked with a golf club last Monday while on his afternoon walk near his place of worship, the Sikh Gurdwara of LA. Los Angeles police said there was a fight between the victim and suspect.
The Los Angeles police chief says the attack is not being investigated as a hate crime.
