The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has announced a recall of unbranded enoki mushrooms due to potential listeria contamination. The recall was made public on Tuesday, along with images of the mushrooms in their generic packaging.

These mushrooms were sold in Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec. They are packaged in a green bag, which features a UPC code of “6-976532-310051” on the back.

Consumers who believe they may have fallen ill after consuming the affected mushrooms are advised to contact their healthcare provider immediately. The CFIA recommends that anyone in possession of the product either dispose of it or return it to the store where it was purchased.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria that can cause serious illness. Symptoms of listeriosis include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headaches, and neck stiffness. Pregnant individuals, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to severe health complications from this infection.

As of now, there have been no reported illnesses linked to the recalled enoki mushrooms. The recall was initiated following test results that indicated the presence of listeria in the product. The company responsible for the recall is Jacky Trading International Inc., as noted by the CFIA.
