A cyclist struck by a pickup truck last week has died of his injuries, according to a City of Boulder press release.
Just before 9 a.m. Monday Aug. 4, Boulder police responded to a call on Edgewood and 24th streets for a reported crash between the cyclist and a Chevrolet Silverado.
The cyclist, Daniel Bench, 88, was taken to the hospital after suffering serious injuries in the crash. He was pronounced dead Monday night.
Initial investigation shows that Bench did not yield at the crosswalk stop sign and rode in front of the truck before being struck, officials said.
The man driving the pickup truck stayed at the scene and was not injured.
Bench is one of at least four cyclists struck and killed by vehicles in the metro Denver area this summer.
