An unidentified male was found deceased on Tuesday in the area of the Boulder Falls waterfall destination, which is located about seven miles west of Boulder. While this destination has a history of being one of the most popular hiking destinations in the area, it has been temporarily closed since last November after a "catastrophic" rockfall left the area very unstable and dangerous.

According to the Boulder County Sheriff's Office, two Apple Alert SOS notifications were received from the general area of the falls at about 12:51 p.m. on August 12. A 911 call was then received, with the caller reporting that a male who appeared to be deceased had been found.
