PHOENIX – The Dragon Bravo Fire continues burning north of the Grand Canyon, but growth has slowed significantly in recent days.
The destructive wildfire’s footprint was reported at 144,432 acres with 44% containment in Wednesday morning’s incident report.
The reported size has increased by about 1,000 acres since Sunday morning. That’s a sharp contrast to the previous week, when the Grand Canyon wildfire grew by nearly 30,000 acres.
The containment percentage, meanwhile, hasn’t changed since Monday morning.
Dry, windy conditions have been hindering suppression efforts for weeks, but the forecast for the next few days includes a 30-50% rain probability.
However, the weather disturbance is expected to produce wind gusts that could spark additional fire activity.
