SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho — The Lakeland Joint School District announced on Tuesday that it will no longer provide transportation for Spirit Lake Elementary, Timberlake Middle School, or Timberlake High School students who live in the City of Spirit Lake.

The school district said on Facebook that its maintenance and operations budget was reduced by $500,000, and the transportation team was forced to make significant changes.

The district said eight bus routes have been eliminated, and some routes have been consolidated by removing stops or moving stops onto other routes to create more centralized pickup and drop-off locations.
