FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) is offering auction bidders the opportunity to own a historic lighthouse in Connecticut.
This online auction, hosted by the GSA, allows Americans to preserve and maintain a piece of history. The Penfield Reef Lighthouse, located in Fairfield, Conn., was built in 1874 and stands at 51 feet tall beside a two-story keeper's dwelling.

The lighthouse marks a submerged reef extending southeast from Fairfield Beach, approximately one mile from the Black Rock Harbor entrance in Bridgeport. The location is only accessible by boat and will continue to serve as a navigation aid for the region.
