CHICAGO (WNDU) - Several members of Indiana’s House Democrat Caucus are in Chicago to meet with Democratic lawmakers from Texas to voice their opposition to Republican redistricting efforts.
According to our sister station WTHR , Texas lawmakers have been staying in Illinois for the past several weeks, trying to avoid a vote in the state legislature on redrawing the state’s congressional districts.
Indiana lawmakers could face a similar vote if Gov. Mike Braun calls a special session for the purpose of redrawing Indiana’s map of congressional districts.
The meeting among Democrats comes a week after Vice President JD Vance came to Indianapolis to meet with the governor and Republican House and Senate leadership.
