KOKOMO, Ind. (WNDU) - The southbound lanes of U.S. 31 that swing travelers around Kokomo are going through a major repaving project.
How major? Well, those of us who take U.S. 31 to Indianapolis on a regular basis are expecting to once again endure a lot of Kokomo traffic lights for the next couple of months .
That’s because drivers on southbound U.S. 31 are being detoured on State Road 931, which takes you through the city.
“It’s usually not this bad,” said Kokomo resident Stephen McGimpsey about the traffic on Friday afternoon. “It’s usually pretty fast, you can usually get through pretty fast.”
The current U.S. 31 route around Kokomo opened back in 2013 to fasten the trip between Indianapolis and Michiana. It replaced the former reroute way, which is now called State Road 931, aft
