Chicago ― The Tigers' beleaguered bullpen is getting another cast member.

Sawyer Gipson-Long, a right-hander, was activated off the injured list before Wednesday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox, and was set to be available in relief. Troy Melton was set to get the start for the Tigers.

Gipson-Long has been out since early July with a neck injury . He was scheduled to start for Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, but his services were needed in Chicago, where the Tigers split the first two games of the three-game series. In Tuesday's 9-6 loss , three relievers pitched, and none of them particularly well.

One of those relievers was right-hander Codi Heuer, who was demoted to Toledo to make room for Gipson-Long. Gipson-Long is stretched out to between 60 and 75 pitches, so he
