A tragic incident unfolded in west Louisville on Wednesday (August 13) when a woman was shot and killed while walking a child to a bus stop . The shooting occurred around 8 a.m. near West Chestnut Street and 11th Street in the Russell neighborhood. The woman was transported to UofL Hospital, where she later died. Fortunately, the child was unharmed, and authorities are ensuring the family receives necessary support.

The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) initially took a 15-year-old into custody, but he was later confirmed not to be the suspect. The shooter remains at large and is described as a young Black male wearing a red hoodie and black sweatpants. Images of the suspect will be released soon.
